ABOUT ME
I am a mechanical engineering graduate, looking for an engineering job for the autumn of 2020. I grew up on an organic turkey farm in Cornwall, which taught me the value of hard work and gave me a love for the outdoors. I have a large family who are everything to me, and there was always a revolving door of interesting people coming to live with us, leading to very few dull moments.
Many of the guests who stayed on the farm were doing their 'Arbeitspraktikum' (work experience), as part of their high school studies. Having German guests staying each year enhanced my interest in the German language and culture. From the age of 13, I have frequently visited families in Germany and learnt to speak German to a business level. A personal highlight is when my parents let my brother and I (at age 15) plan and go on an inter railing trip around Germany, visiting 8 different cities in a month.
After undertaking some incredible long distance hikes and adventures, I've developed a love for learning new things and adapting to new situations. These travels, along with jobs such as turkey gutting on the farm at Christmas, have showed me that a degree of discomfort makes life truly interesting. This has been the driving force for my personal development.
In terms of my working life, I enjoy jobs where I feel achievement at the end of the day, be it a small milestone or a completed project. If I have a project that I'm passionate about, I will put my absolute all into it, trying to solve various problems in my head in my free time. I've had many customer service and manual labour jobs, during which I have gained valuable experience. However, when considering my future career path, I truly feel most content when designing, building and creating.
