'I made it'

June 2014

After finishing high school, I was itching to leave the musty exam halls behind and see the world. My parents walk the Camino de Santiago every year, and always talk about how life changing the experience is to so many. On account of this, I booked a plane ticket to Toulouse and a train ticket to St Jean Pied de Port, packed my small bag and said goodbye to home life for a while.

I have always been a fan of adventure videos on YouTube. One series that stood out in particular was 'Long treks on skate decks' by the famous long-boarder and adventurer, Adam Colton. I wanted to document my adventure in a similar way, so bought a camera and video editing software, and spent a couple of weeks learning about how to document my own adventures. The end result (which is really more for personal enjoyment!) can be seen in the videos (left) - the third one is my favourite.

I really loved my first taste of real adventure. Blistered feet, worn out shoes, smiling faces of new friends from all over the globe.
