A rendering of the complete soapbox

January 2018

In my second year of university, we were given a project brief to work within a group, and design a soapbox the Red Bull soapbox race.

We decided to build it out of a bathtub and call it the 'A Bath' - a pun on the car company Abarth, known for modifying fiat 500's. I was in charge of the CAD elements of the project and making many of the design decisions. Other members of my group were involved in other components of the project – this included the electronics, because we decided to have bubbles coming out of the exhaust.

In that week, I spent many hours on Solidworks, which is when I developed a keen interest in the program. I am fascinated by the concept of being able to transform an idea into a 3D realistically rendered computer model, simply within a few days.

Our group achieved a first class grade for this project.
